Leah Williamson has quickly become a national treasure and cultural icon for female empowerment and women’s sport solidifying this at Wembley when she captained the Lionesses to a historic win in the European finals.

Leah joined Arsenal‘s Centre of Excellence in 2006 at the age of nine making her debut in a Champions League quarter-final.

After making 12 appearances in the 2014 FA Women’s Super League was crowned the FA WSL Cup Player of the Year.

Leah then won the England Women’s Youth Player of the Year award and in April 2015 was named the 2014-15 PFA Young Women’s Player of the Year.

Leah got another taste of silverware in 2016 when Arsenal beat Chelsea in the FA cup final at the home of English football – Wembley.

Following on form her domestic success Leah was called up to the Lionesses Senior squad and made her debut in the 3-1 against Russia in the 2019 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Leah has also been part of a lot of campaigns such as in 2019 when she joined a host of other notable figures in jewellery brand Swarovski’s 2019 #FollowTheLight campaign wish focused on women empowering and supporting other women across a range of industries.

Leah has represented England since 2010 and captained the U17 side in the 2014 UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship.

She was also part of the England Women’s U20 team which competed in the 2014 FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup in Canada.

In November 2017, she was called up to the Lionesses Senior squad and made her debut in the 3-1 against Russia in the 2019 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Leah made headlines in April 2015 when her successful penalty was disallowed for player encroachment in a qualifying match against Norway for the 2015 UEFA Under-19 championship.

The match was ordered to be replayed five days after the original contest.

The players returned to finish the last two minutes of their game with the score standing at 2-1 to Norway. Leah equalised and in doing so booked her team’s place in the tournament finals. Nerves of steel!

In 2019, Leah joined a host of other notable figures in jewelry brand Swarovski’s 2019 #FollowTheLight campaign and was also selected to represent England at the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France.

At end of 2021, Leah captained England twice during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers. England won both games, and Leah was rewarded Player of the Match for both games.

A few months later in February 2022, Leah led the Lionesses to success in the inaugural Arnold Clark Cup featuring Spain, Canada and Germany.

In March, she was confirmed as England’s Captain for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022, which England then went on to win!

Leah has worked with a number of household name brands such as Nike, Gucci, Vogue, Pepsi, and Dorritos and has become one of the leading names and most well-known faces in English football.
