Araceli Segarra was the first Spanish woman to conquer Everest, an expedition accompanied and filmed by the IMAX film crew, and in which she starred.
The film was simply titled “Everest”. Her feat was precluded by her and her team helping out during the rescue of one of Everest’s worst tragedies in 1996.
The daring Araceli’s mountain climbing career began earlier, when, aged 15 years, she successfully climbed the highest peak in Africa, Mount Kenya.
The next year she made her first onslaught on Everest but managed to tackle and defeat the giant only in 1996.
Everest was a goal that emerged after years of progress, and consistent with the mountaineering style that fit with our philosophy.
In the fall of 1995, we went to the north face of Everest, the “Horbein corridor” to climb it in pure alpine style, without oxygen, without fixed ropes or porters. We reached 7,800 meters. We were alone, I was 25 years old.
Her work in television does not only see her in front of the camera, but behind it as well, and has been a camera person in the Discovery Channel documentary “Expedition Alaska”, as well as an assistant camera person for “Seven Years in Tibet”, a film starring Brad Pitt.
To add to this, she is also active on Catalan Radio and Radio 1, Barcelona.
As a model, Araceli has taken part in a number of advertising campaigns for both television and magazines, including the likes of Elle, Vogue, Glamour (USA), Figaro (France), and Telva and El Pais Semanal (Spain).
Araceli Segarra – Speaker
As a speaker, Araceli has the unique ability to adapt her talks to her client’s specific topic needs. This she does by using her unique and diverse experiences as a climber, using different situations encountered as metaphors in order to emphasize specific concepts.
Araceli has discovered that behind every success, both in the company and in the mountains, there is a motivated team with a positive attitude.Jordi Constants (Director General de DANONE)
Besides making use of all her talents, Araceli is also multilingual and presents in Spanish, Catalan, English, and French.
New Keynote: Dealing With COVID-19 “Which Lessons Can We Learn From The Mountains”
In this keynote, Araceli discusses characteristics that the virus pandemic has placed upon people which include; frustration, isolation, uncertainty, and lack of motivation.
As a climber, she has experience of having to manage and cope with these characteristics. But all mountains are different and require a different focus and each requires a new skill to overcome them.

Araceli’s talk was very very good… Overall feedback from everyone was super positive! We also had the chance to have lunch with her.Henrique Braga, Uber Europe – Toledo Spain Sales Conference, Nov ’18
The best part, in my opinion, was that she didn’t bring any “rules” or “laws”, but a very real and impactful personal story on which she relates perfectly with everyone’s stories, so it wasn’t a talk that ends when you leave the room but more a great food for thought for later, and each one will take its own conclusions based on what they heard.
Her attitude is also fascinating and extremely professional. Thanks a lot for helping me with this, I know that was a last-minute challenge, but I see a really positive outcome.
Araceli helped us communicate to our team that to get through rough times the keyword is teamwork. She made a superb presentation that made everybody leave the room with a completely different view of work and life.Adolfo del Cueto, A. Bulltick Capital Markets, Managing Partner (USA)
The conference of Araceli Segarra has helped us to understand that the value is not so much in the success as in the process of setting objectives and overcoming difficulties in order to achieve that the challenges become achievements overcoming difficulties in order to achieve that the challenges become achievements.Alejandro Ribera (Director General de TECHNAL)
