Biography

Ciaran Martin is the former founding Chief Executive Officer of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and one of the world’s foremost experts on cybersecurity, cyber resilience and digital risk.

During his leadership of the NCSC, he established the organisation as the UK’s leading authority on cybersecurity, overseeing the protection of critical national infrastructure and coordinating responses to major cyber incidents affecting both the public and private sectors.

Prior to leading the NCSC, Ciaran held a number of senior positions within the UK Government, including responsibility for national cybersecurity policy and intelligence coordination. His work has placed him at the forefront of international efforts to combat cybercrime, improve cyber resilience and strengthen national security.

Today, Ciaran is a Professor of Practice at the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford and advises governments, multinational organisations and boards on cybersecurity strategy, digital resilience and the future of cyber risk.
