Jesse Schell is the CEO of Schell Games, makers of games like Among Us VR and I Expect You To Die.
Jesse Schell is professor of entertainment technology for Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center (ETC), a joint master’s program between Carnegie Mellon’s College of Fine Arts and School of Computer Science, where he teaches game design and leads several research projects.
He is also CEO of Schell Games, LLC, an independent game studio in Pittsburgh.
Formerly he was creative director of the Walt Disney Imagineering Virtual Reality Studio and chairman of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA).
Schell worked as a designer, programmer, and manager on several projects for Disney theme parks and DisneyQuest.
He received his undergraduate degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and master’s degree in information networking from Carnegie Mellon.
In 2004, he was named as one of the World’s 100 Top Young Innovators by MIT’s Technology Review.
He also serves as Distinguished Professor of the Practice of Entertainment Technology at Carnegie Mellon University, and is author of The Art of Game Design: A Book of Lenses.
Before starting Schell Games in 2002, Jesse was the creative director of the Disney Virtual Reality Studio, where he helped create DisneyQuest and Toontown Online.
Schell is Distinguished Professor of the Practice of Entertainment Technology at Carnegie Mellon University’s (CMU) Entertainment Technology Center (ETC), where he takes classes in Game Design and fills in as counsel on a few creative undertakings.
Once in the past the Chairman of the International Game Developers Association.
He is additionally the writer of the award-winning book The Art of Game Design & A Book of Lenses. Schell Games’ most recent undertaking is making a computer game dependent on the movies hit “The Mummy.
